US Medical Supplies Announces Winner of the 2011 Scholarship
Raleigh, NC – July 20th, 2011 - US Medical Supplies, an online retailer of medical supplies and mobility items, such as power wheelchairs and mobility scooters, is proud to announce that the recipient of the Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship for 2011 is Eugene Chang, a student at the University of Rochester.
"We immediately read Mr. Chang's essay and were thrilled with his entry," said Cole Watts, a member of the scholarship committee. "Eugene obviously has a passion for his field and it came across very clearly in his essay."
Eugene Chang is a student at the University of Rochester, where he is studying to get his Ph.D. in Pathology. Eugene’s essay describe his experience as a volunteer in an emergency room and how that experience helped make him realize that he wanted to combine his research and science background to help as many people as possible.
“I hope that as a physician-scientist, my research in atherosclerosis and heart failure will one day be critical to developing new therapies or diagnostics for improved CVD patient outcomes.” Eugene wrote in his essay. “My experiences in science and medicine have convinced me to seek a profession where a love for science and a love for people can merge.”
To apply for the US Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship, students were asked to compose an essay response of 500 words or more describing what excites them most about their field of study, and what insights from their personal life and/or childhood they bring to their chosen curriculum. This is the second year that US Medical Supplies has awarded the Medical Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship. The scholarship awards $1,000 to a full-time college student who is pursuing a career in the medical field. The scholarship contest will be held again next year and a new recipient will be chosen in fall of 2012.
